For this season, the designer has relaxed her tailored silhouettes and created a sports-luxe collection, featuring many of her trademark details, such as generously tasseled belts, obi wraps and draping.
Amanda Wakeley's AW17 moodboard illustrates the references that have inspired her latest designs and she describes her muse for AW17 as being, 'Born French and of Japanese descent.'
'The Wakeley woman's AW17 style is distinctly Parisian,' continues the designer, 'She translates rich, cultural references of her Japanese heritage into a sophisticated eclecticism, whilst drawing influence from the indigenous Ainu tribe, whose storied culture has captured her.'

With a distinct emphasis on craftsmanship and folksy touches, the Amanda Wakeley AW17 collection's colour palette blends black with bright splashes of lipstick red, rich mossy green and deepest midnight blue. Silver grey, gunmetal, shimmering gold and ecru add highlights.

Geometric jacquards, embroidered mesh and punched wool, plus sheer silk chiffon and satins are layered for pattern and texture and fashioned into wide trousers, wrap jackets, and molten draped gowns.
While the collection displays a more relaxed approach to dressing, it also provides many glamorous red-carpet options for Amanda Wakeley's high-profile customers, including Scarlett Johansson and Angelina Jolie.
'The Wakeley woman favours looks that are polished, considered and accessorised,' explains the designer, 'Whilst exuding a contemporary decadence.'
